sleepmakeswaves release new album 'Love of Cartography'

Sydney ambient/melodic post-rockers SLEEPMAKESWAVES have released their second album ?Love of Cartography.? The album is the band?s most epic, intricate and powerful record to date, showcasing their dynamic and energetic approach to modern post-rock, whilst retaining their signature melodic hooks. With a series of memorable and thundering sequences ?Love of Cartography? presents the band?s continued desire to map new creative directions within an instrumental rock framework. Recorded in Byron Bay at Studio 301 with producer Nick DiDia (Karnivool, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Powderfinger, Rage Against The Machine), the album?s 10 tracks range from the epic bombast of ?Perfect Detonator? to the delicate and subtle electronic flourishes of ?A Little Spark.? The album was supported by a Pozible pre-order campaign, through which the band raised over $30,000 from fans to put towards the album. The latest single from the release, a driving melodic epic ?Great Northern? has been receiving airplay on Australian radio including triple j, FBi and PBS. It follows the first taste of the record ?Something Like Avalanches? which premiered on triple j in May and has since picked up airplay nationally& internationally across community & college radio. Formed in 2006, the Sydney-based instrumental group found their initial success within the burgeoning post-rock scene ? with a bold approach to the genre, their debut EP ?in today already walks tomorrow? clocked up 50,000 downloads worldwide, establishing them as an exciting new voice in instrumental music. Their debut full-length ??and so we destroyed everything? proved the catalyst for the band to traverse the globe, touring the US, UK, Europe and Australia, including Austin?s SXSW Festival, co-headlining Belgium?s Dunk Festival and performing at London?s Beyond The Redshift Festival curated by Cult of Luna. Over the past 3 years, their busy schedule has included 8 Australian tours, 3 European tours, touring the USA, tours with 65daysofstatic and Karnivool ? and an unprecedented nomination for an ARIA Award in 2012.The band kick off a national headlining Australian tour this weekend, dates below.??Love of Cartography? is out now through Bird?s Robe Records/MGMListen here sleepmakeswaves 2014 ?Love of Cartography?
