WE LOST THE SEA Australian tour with The Jezabels

Post-rock legends WE LOST THE SEA have announced they will be supporting indie icons THE JEZABELS on their "Prisoner" 10 Year Anniversary Australian tour this June.

TICKETS ON SALE NOW

The band posted to social media saying:

We're very excited to announce that we'll be supporting The Jezabels on their 'Prisoner' Ten Year Anniversary Australian tour. It will be our first tour since 2019 and it takes us to the best venues in the country and we can hardly believe we'll be ticking them all off in one go.

We've dreamed of playing The Enmore Theatre since we were badly dressed teenagers going to see our favorite bands and it will be a huge moment for us.

This is no doubt quite a different crossover for WLTS and we'd like to thank the band and management for the opportunity and to let us play our unnecessarily long songs for their fans.

Tickets are very limited so you'll have to be quick or wait until we headline these rooms next time.

The shows mark the first tour for We Lost The Sea in 3 years, since their sold out Australian & Chinese album launch tours for their latest record 'Triumph & Disaster' released in late 2019. Debuting at #41 on the ARIA Chart and #1 on the 100% Independent Chart, the album follows themes of an apocalyptic world - strangely prescient given the events of the ensuing years.

The record followed their critically-acclaimed 2015 album 'Departure Songs' which has sold close to 10,000 copies worldwide and seen further acclaim when the opening track 'A Gallant Gentleman' was featured in the Ricky Gervais series 'Afterlife.'

Since forming in 2007, the band has earned a worldwide cult following for their combinations of relentless crushing guitars with otherworldly atmospherics and melody. Their widescreen post-rock has taken them all over the world and seen them share stages with like minded acts BaronessKarnivool, Russian Circles, This Will Destroy You & MONO.

Following the unfortunate passing of former frontman Chris Torpy in 2013, the band reconvened as a fully instrumental group to record an emotional collection of ‘Departure Songs’ celebrating the stories of others with unfortunate failed missions. From The Last Dive of David Shaw, to the 2-part ode to the Challenger space mission, the record traverses deep terrain without the use of lyrics.

In 2019, the album’s feature track ‘A Gallant Gentleman’ was selected to feature in UK comedian Rick Gervais’ new series ‘Afterlife’ during a poignant scene in which the protagonist also considers whether to go on whilst dealing with an intense loss. The band’s answer to questions like these is captured in the catharsis of the material they released on this album whilst dealing with the loss of their friend.

Their latest album 'Triumph & Disaster'  is a post-apocalyptic view on the collapse of the world told like a children's story and illustrated through the eyes of a mother and her son as they spend one last day on Earth. The music is the narrative for the destruction and tragedy. The words tell the story of love, loss and letting go.
