DEPARTURE SONGS IN FULL AT CITY RECITAL HALL, SYDNEY
A message from We Lost The Sea:
In May, we celebrated ten years of our album Departure Songs, performing it in its entirety with a chamber orchestra to headline Dunk!Festival in Belgium.
To be able to perform the album in full, at our favourite festival, ten years later felt almost like the perfect conclusion of the Departure Songs arc.
But not quite.
We are thrilled to announce that in November we will be bringing Departure Songs back to our hometown, with the help of the musicians of The Metropolitan Orchestra and Vox, Sydney Philharmonia Choir.
Adding to the absurdity of it all is that we will be performing this show at Sydney's City Recital Hall at Angel Place, one of the most prestigious venues in Australia. It will be recorded and filmed for live release - so dust off your evening gowns and suits, and bring your best singing voices.
From writing sessions in abandoned venues in Sydney, and dive bars in Australia, Europe, China, and America to the City Recital Hall, Departure Songs has soundtracked a decade that even now seems scarcely believable to us.
We will also be joined by two very special friends for this show: Chad McCullough, who arranged all the parts and appeared with us at Dunk!Festival will again join us to conduct and play trumpet, and our former guitarist Brendon Warner, who wrote Departure Songs with us, will open the evening with a solo set as his new project Voix Nulle.
This dream show has been realised in no small party to Mike Solo and Bird's Robe believing in us for the last 10 years and backing us to do this incredibly special event. Thanks, Mike.
Departure Songs is coming home.
The only Australian show for 2026.
The final Departure Songs full performance of the decade.
