"Bird's Robe: This is Family" - Episode 5: Squat Club

Australian music company Bird's Robe have released the 5th episode in their ‘Bird’s Robe: This Is Family’ documentary series. The series celebrates 15 years of the label, as well as the stories of its flagship artists.

Episode 5 zips back in time to feature Squat Club, one of the earliest Bird’s Robe bands and one of the most impactful. The band exploded out of Sydney’s underground in 2008, playing a series of shows to ever-growing audiences, before disbanding in 2009 as their members scattered across the globe. The band returned to Australia in early 2010 to release their debut album ‘Corvus’ with two packed shows in Sydney, before disbanding yet again. The episode explores the origins of the band and their initial 3 year lifespan before going on hiatus for a decade.

Their impending reunion to perform at this year’s 15th anniversary shows for Bird’s Robe in December has been one of the most anticipated comebacks amongst their peers in the scene.

The episode features commentary from sleepmakeswaves, The Crooked Fiddle Band, Lachlan Dale (Art As Catharsis), Dumbsaint, We Lost The Sea, Space Project, Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes & more, along with archival footage of Squat Club performing around legendary venues in Sydney such as the Annandale Hotel and The Bald Faced Stag (now Crowbar).
